3 Easy Tailgate Foods for Game Day

Football is back on TV...and no one is more excited than we are (okay, well, except maybe the players). It was one thing to not be able to attend sports in person for most of the past year, but to not have the ability to watch a game at home felt downright criminal.

And, while the ability to tailgate at a game is still off-limits, there’s no reason you can’t still host an intimate tailgate at home. Other than a game to watch and someone to watch it with, the only other two mandatory requirements for a proper tailgate are game day food ideas and drinks, and we’re here to help you fulfill both of those needs.

For starters, we’ve created three amazing recipes* for easy tailgate foods you can make at home featuring BWR carryout. Using menu items like boneless wings and queso, you can create the tailgate of your dreams right in your own kitchen.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Ingredients

  • Shredded or diced BWR Boneless Wings – 10 pieces
  • Cream cheese, softened – 8 oz
  • Cheddar cheese – 1-1/2 cups
  • BWR Buffalo Hot Sauce – ½ cup (2 small side orders)
  • Ranch dressing – ½ cup
  • Sliced green onions (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9 x 9” baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Shred or dice boneless wings into 1/4” pieces
  3. In a mixing bowl use a large spoon or rubber spatula to blend softened cream cheese with 1 cup of cheddar cheese. Add Buffalo sauce and ranch dressing, mix.
  4. Spoon mixture into prepared dish. Cover with remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until mixture is heated through to 165° and cheese on top is melted and slightly bubbly.
  6. Garnish with sliced green onions, if desired. Serve with chips and celery sticks.

Sheet Pan Loaded Nachos

Ingredients

  • Tortilla chips – 1 lb
  • BWR Queso Blanco – 2 cups (2 large side orders)
  • Shredded Monterey Jack – 1 cup
  • Shredded or diced BWR Boneless Wings – 10 pieces
  • Tomatoes, diced – 1 cup
  • Red onion, diced – 1/2 cup
  • Fresh jalapenos (or jarred), sliced into rings or diced – 1/4 cup
  • Sliced black olives, drained – 1/4 cup
  • Shredded lettuce – 1 cup
  • Sour cream – as needed
  • Guacamole – as needed
  • Salsa – as needed

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° and line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. Cover bottom of aluminum-lined baking sheet with tortilla chips. Top chips evenly with BWR Queso Blanco and shredded cheese. Top cheese with prepared chicken and half of the tomatoes, red onions, jalapenos, and black olives over the chips, as evenly as possible, then sprinkle with 1/2 cup of shredded Monterey Jack cheese.
  3. Place in oven until cheese is melted and chicken is hot.
  4. Remove from oven and top with more tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, and olives.
  5. Top with shredded lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa, or serve on the side.

Sourdough Grilled Mac n Cheese

Ingredients

  • BWR Bacon Mac n Cheese – 1 order
  • Sourdough bread – 4 slices
  • Butter – 2 tablespoons
  • Cheddar cheese – 4 slices

Directions

  1. Warm the BWR Bacon Mac n Cheese in an oven-proof dish or the microwave and then divide into two equal portions.
  2. Butter four slices of bread on one side and place cheese slices on the opposite sides. Top two slices with the warmed Mac and top with the other slices of buttered bread so you have two sandwiches. Gently press each sandwich together.
  3. Place butter-side down on a large skillet or griddle. Grill on both sides, carefully flipping with a spatula.
